Engines feature a custom-built fresh water cooling system conversion (heat exchangers) with Caterpillar cooling manifolds; engines feature oil coolers. The actual hours on the engines is estimated at about 1,000 hours more than shown on the Hobbs meters due to a replacement of the meters previously.

Vosper Mini-Fin Stabilizers are gyro controlled and eliminate 90 percent of vessel roll permitting the transit of beam seas in heavy weather. Owner has a spare gyroscope plus other spares, and parts are readily available from England.

The main generator is an Onan 12 KW in a sound enclosure. A Dynamote 6.5 KW cruise generator runs off of the starboard engine, eliminating the need for use of the Onan generator when underway. A Freedom Marine 30 system provides a 3,000 watt inverter and 140 amp battery charger.

Two (2) new propellors carried as spares.

Enter the main cabin through teak french doors which open for wide access. The main cabin saloon features a large u-shaped settee with a teak table and chairs to starboard, and a settee to port. The saloon includes a desk and chair to starboard as well as ample storage in a large cabinet to port. The floor is recently carpeted and all cabinetry is teak. You will find a handrail overhead in the saloon for security when underway. Interior spaces are heated with electric plug-in heaters.

Proceeding forward the galley is to starboard. The galley features a large pass-through counter between the saloon and the galley workspace with ample counter space and storage. A teak finished refrigerator-freezer unit is located in this space along with a Princess three burner electric stove and oven as well as a double stainless steel sink. A countertop hatch is used to access space for refuse or recycling with a convenient door on deck for removal of waste bins. Opposite the galley is a teak ladder leading to the flybridge deck and a carpeted curved staircase that leads to the lower deck.

Moving forward in the main cabin you enter the pilothouse. Teak doors open to each side deck. You will find an eight foot long upholstered bench in the wheelhouse that could serve as a pilot berth. Amidships from this passageway are the sound insulated port and starboard engine rooms. These are large spaces. The starboard engine room includes the laundry center with front loading washer and a dryer. The Dynamote 6.5 KW cruise generator is located here. Opposite in the port engine room is the Onan 12 KW generator in a sound dampened housing.

Moving through the passageway to the back of the vessel you will enter the master suite. Here, a large head with tub and shower is located to starboard and a Danforth Type 2 electric head is in this space. From the aft deck on the main level covered Europa-style decks extend to the foredeck. Here, you will find three storage lockers, the original electric anchor windlass, and a Danforth anchor on a bow platform. The exterior of the boat features original bronze castings, varnished teak handrails and trim, and full teak decks. The hull is white and the paint appears flawless. VIRTUAL TOUR - VIDEO - 80 TO 100 PHOTOS - FULL SPECS CAN BE VIEWED OF THIS VESSEL!
The Grand Banks 50 is a small ship designed for long distance cruising. Grand Banks pioneered the cruising trawler design and built the boats in wood in their Hong Kong shipyard from the late 1950s into the 1970s. The boats have held their value over time due to the excellent materials used and true craftsmanship in their construction.

Our boat has always been kept in a boathouse, and incorporates costly additional features designed for safety and reliability while cruising. Vosper Mini Fin stabilization was installed to provide for a comfortable ride in heavy weather beam seas. The twin Caterpillar 210 HP diesel engines were converted to fresh water cooling and oil coolers were added to prolong engine life. The Furuno radar reaches out 64 miles for safety. An expensive Nick Jackson transom lift for the 12' Zodiac makes shore transit easy compared to launching with a boom from an overhead deck. The layout for life aboard is ideal with covered decks, an expansive saloon and main deck, three private cabins with heads and showers on the lower deck, and an expansive flybridge deck with bimini and seating.

The boat is located in an ideal place for exploring US and Canadian waters or transiting the Inside Passage. The boathouse is available separately through the owner and moorage rights are transferable to the next owner-- a rare thing in many marinas today. This would be an ideal live-aboard or vacation home in the pristine Pacific Northwest.
